Photoshop out of control!

OK, it's mostly color stuff, but what color stuff it is: PhotoShopd is a blog deditcated to digital image manipulation disasters that appear on magazine covers and in ads. Some are subtle, many are funny, others are just strange.

Fortunately, if you use an old-fashioned darkroom, you'd have to put much more thought into making these kinds of mistakes.

PRESS RELEASE: ILFORD PHOTO LAUNCHES NEW PHOTOCHEMISTRY PRODUCT

HARMAN technology Limited has announced plans to extend its highly popular range of ILFORD PHOTO black and white photochemistry products with a new developer. ILFOSOL 3 is due for official launch in February 2008 and is an enhanced formulation of the one-shot, general-purpose, liquid black and white film developer - ILFOSOL S.

The new developer is particularly suited for use with medium and slow speed films such as PAN F PLUS, FP4 PLUS and DELTA 100 PROFESSIONAL where it ensures a fine grain and optimal sharpness at full film speed. It is supplied as a concentrate in economical 500ml bottles and is diluted (typically at a ratio of 1:9) for one-shot use. However, for greater economy, ILFOSOL 3 can also be used with many films at a higher dilution of 1:14 with only a small trade off in image quality.

The introduction of ILFOSOL 3 is just the latest in a long line of product launches by ILFORD PHOTO. Since the company was formed in 2005 out of the black and white side of the ILFORD business created by Alfred Harman in 1879, ILFORD PHOTO has reintroduced such well-respected photochemistry products as ID-11, Microphen and Perceptol powder film developers, and the ILFOTEC HC and ILFOTEC LC29 concentrated liquid film developers.

At the same time, it has also developed a number of totally new products, including ILFORD Washaid, the ideal means of washing all fibre based papers and ILFORD HARMAN WARMTONE DEVELOPER.

Speaking of the latest addition to the ILFORD PHOTO range, HARMAN technology Marketing Director, Howard Hopwood, said: “At a time when many leading manufacturers of photo-imaging products are pulling out of the black and white market, we remain as staunchly committed to it as ever. The introduction of ILFOSOL 3 should serve as proof - and reassurance - of this. Monochrome is in our blood at HARMAN technology and we believe in doing all we can to safeguard its future and to promote its co-existence with digital photography.”

...or, maybe not.

Where is Amateur Photographer getting its scoops? Last month, they published an exclusive that Leica was planning a full-frame digital sensor rangefinder camera, which Leica has since said is not true.

Today, AP announced that the news story they ran last week that Kodak had licensed Vivitar to make a 35mm SLR under the Kodak name was, er, um, refuted by Kodak.

So, sorry, no Kodak SLRs (at least, for now). Good thing Vivitar already makes a basic, inexpensive film SLR which you can buy now--under the Vivitar name.

Kodak, Vivitar planning a 35mm SLR!

I just got some hot news via my trusty RSS feed: According to UK weekly Amateur Photographer, the ink is barely dry on an agreement between Kodak and Vivitar for Vivitar to develop a 35mm SLR camera--which would be the first new 35mm SLR in quite some time--to be marketed under the Kodak name.

Kind of like this camera...

BTW...The Kodak Retina Reflex was made for Kodak by a German camera company. (Hat tip to Mr. Martin's Camera Museum)

The new camera being developed is said to be similar to the basic Vivitar V3000s and will be called the Kodak KV100.

Film lives!
